Rick Robinson points me to Notefish
16 05 2006Preface: Am I going to blog, personally, for real now? I don’t know - this one sucked up 20 or 30 minutes. Still, playing with Furl just now reminded me that I really like it.
I just had coffee with Dale and Rick Robinson at Greenberry’s in Reston. I seem to spend more time in Starbucks even though I like Greenberry’s much more - and it has free wifi. Starbucks is a little closer to my office.
Well, coffee for me, cafe au lait for Dale (just back from Paris, hence the departure from his usual latte), and a Diet Coke for Rick.
It was good to catch up with Rick, who used to be at AOL (along with half the population of Northern Virginia). I think it was Susan Mernit who introduced me to Rick a while back. In the last six months Rick contributed a lot to Morph, our “slow” thinking blog at The Media Center. He’s working on various projects and ideas. AS usual, I learned something. Rick pointed me to a note-taking tool I’m now trying out - Notefish. I installed the Firefox extension on my Mac - and of course wonder what kind of better features are built into the XP download. I don’t have a good feel for it yet - I was able to use it to take notes, but didn’t find the clipping utility of Furl, which I love. I’m not sure if it’s there and I just haven’t discovered it yet, or not. Once notes are made with Notefish it does seem like a nice whiteboard space for moving them around. That would help with the kind of freeform brainstorming I prefer - with organization coming later, after the thoughts have been collected.
